Here is a collection of the cutest, most unusually adorable animals you can find in the wild and at some pet shops.
African Pygmy Hedgehog
Definitely cute despite the many small spines on its back. What makes it even more adorable is the way it protect itself from predators: by rolling into a ball!
Angora Rabbit
The Angora rabbit is one of the oldest types of domestic rabbit, originating in Ankara (historically known as Angora), Turkey. Because of their long, soft wool, they became popular pets with French royalty in the mid-18th century.
Chameleon
The bulging eyes, long retracting tongue and ability to change color to adapt to its environment or protect itself against enemies are just some of its well-loved traits.
Clown Fish
Thanks to the 2003 animated film, Finding Nemo, every child wants to his very own clown fish for a pet! Quite a nightmare for parents because this fish only survives in habitats with live anemones.
Harp Seal
The baby harp seal's fluffy pelt makes you want to hug it. The fur also makes this adorable creature hunted by poachers.
Hummingbird
For sheer size (it is one of the smallest bird species in the world), the Humming bird easily makes it to this cutest animals list. It is also a graceful flyer. Its flight, beating its wings up to 80 times a second, is also more akin to flying insects than other bird species.
Kiwi Bird
This bird with thick feathers is native to New Zealand. Its wings are no more than stubs, rendering it flightless. Kiwis lay huge eggs for their size: up to 20% of their body weight.
Koala
According to a study conducted by the Australian Institute, "to see koalas" up close and personal is one of the main reasons why tourists want to go to Australia. Just one proof of how adorable these creatures are!
Panda
Pandas are one of the most endangered animals in the world. They only eat fresh bamboo, making them extremely dependent on their habitat to survive. With continued destruction of their natural habitat in the mountainous areas of southwest China, not to mention poaching, we'll be lucky to see these gentle creatures even behind the glass enclosures of a zoo.
Puffer Fish
What makes this marine creature cute is its ability to form itself into a ball ready to explode to scare off predators. While we prefer to see it alive, others find it more interesting to consume the poisonous fish. In Japan, puffer fish or fugu is a special delicacy that only trained chefs are allowed to serve. The puffer fish's liver contains deadly toxins that if not properly prepared could contaminate the flesh that could be fatal when consumed by humans.
